Hornets all smiles on Senior night

Giltner's senior basketball players had one heck of a final game at home. 

The Lady Hornets held on to defeat Dorchester 34-30 while the boys had one of its best shooting nights of the year, besting the Longhorns 58-39. 

In the girls game, the Lady Hornets at one time led 23-13 before Dorchester made it a four-point game after three quarters. 

From there, big efforts from senior Kaley Ballard on the boards and in the paint helped Giltner secure its seventh win of the year. 

Payton Hunnicutt, a fellow senior who was a game-time decision, led the team with 10 points while Ballard and Sydni Watson added eight apiece. 

The boys game featured a rocket first quarter wtih 34 combined points as Giltner led it 20-14 after one. 

In all, the Hornets made eight three-point field goals in the game to pull away for a 58-39 win, its third of the year. 

Lance McKay and Tanner Roth each scored 11 to lead Giltner while Cole Consbruck added nine.
