Wells, water quality, aquifer all the subject of ag day

Area farmers were treated to a highly informative presentation on groundwater protection through well construction and routine maintenance during the first of many ag education days. This event, housed at the Merrick County Fairgrounds in Central City, included a special spot about the do’s and dont’s associated with water quality sampling and testing.
Becky Schuerman, Nebraska Extension Educator and domestic water specialist, began her talk with a brief introduction.
“I’ve been with the Extension for almost a year now,” she said. “Previously, I worked within the regulation side of the field with the state with both private water and public water, so I worked with the well drillers a lot, as well as water operators and such".
