It seems as if Aurora's wrestling team has picked up right where the Husky basketball team left off.

For the first time since 2006, the Husky grapplers won the Central Conference tournament Saturday at Lexington behind four individual champions and an all-around team effort.

The Huskies finished the day with 192.5 points, ahead of York, Grand Island Northwest, Columbus Lakeview and Seward in the top five.

Aurora had six wrestlers make the finals and came away 4-2 in those matches. Caden Svoboda at 106, Trevor Kluck at 138, Kolby Wessels at 160 and Aaron Jividen at 285 were all victorious in the finals. Mack Owens and Brekyn Papineau at 170 and 182, respectively, finished second.

Kluck was named the most outstanding wrestler of the meet for his efforts. The Husky junior defeated GINW's Collin Quandt in the finals. This was the second time this season Kluck defeated Quandt on the mat.

Six other wrestlers for Aurora finished in medal spots to round out the day for the Huskies as they build toward this month's state tournament.
