CRC tourney underway in York

The CRC tournament in York began Saturday with first round action taking place at the York Middle School and City Auditorium. 

Hampton and High Plains put on a a thriller in opening round girls action as the Lady Hawks hung on to defeat the Lady Storm 42-38 in overtime. 

After going the final 1:33 of the fourth quarter tied at 34, Lydia Dose hit a 3-ball for Hampton to start the overtime period and Hampton never looked back. 

Hampton led for most of the night, but High Plains never trailed by more than six. 

The Giltner girls and Hampton boys were the first teams to take the floor at the respective venues. 

Giltner trailed 25-23 entering the fourth, but was outscored 10-5 by Shelby-Rising City as the Huskies defeated the Lady Hornets 35-28. 

Kaley Ballard led the team with 9 points. 

Jackson Block hit six three-pointers for Hampton in a 51-31 loss to Exeter-Milligan. 

Giltner and High Plains' boys were also in action as the Hornets fell 45-26 while the Storm lost a 68-11 contest to Cross County. 

The Hampton girls are the lone team remaining in the tournament and will play Exeter-Milligan Monday at 6 p.m. at the York City Auditorium.
