The Clash in Clarks Monday night lived up to the billing.

An estimated crowd of 2,000 8-man fans packed into Clarks to see Osceola-High Plains and Cross County meet in an instant classic as one-half of the Class D1 semifinals. A late touchdown surged the Stormdogs ahead and punched a ticket to next week’s state finals, 34-30 over the Cougars.

A score from Keaton Van Housen with 1:28 left put the Stormdogs out front 34-30 and needed one final defensive stop to win the game.

The OHP defense rose up, forcing the Cougars to go four and out and secure the victory.

Van Housen eclipsed the 2,000-yard rushing total Monday night with 253 yards and three scores. He now has 2.217 through 12 games this year.

Osceola-High Plains (10-2) advances to next Monday's D1 state finals against Burwell (10-2). That game kicks off at 10:15 a.m.
