Giltner bounced from state tourney

Giltner entered what was a deep Class D2 field at the state volleyball tournament with hopes of upsetting the top seed on opening day. Lawrence-Nelson had other ideas.

The Raiders swept the Lady Hornets in the opening round of the state tourney with scores of 25-10, 25-8 and 25-14.

Lawrence-Nelson had double digit leads in each of the three sets played. The third set was the most competitive as Giltner led for a short time early on before the Raiders went on a 7-0 run.

Giltner was the first area team to qualify for the state tournament since 2016 when Aurora and Hampton each made an apperance and was Giltner's first showing since 2015.

The match was the final one for a long list of seniors, including Sydney Janzen, Lacey Hoffman, Hannah Preissler, Amanda Whisenand, Kaley Ballard, Cassidy Tompkin and Payton Hunnicutt. The Lady Hornets finished the season with a 21-11 overall record.
