Stormdogs rally to defeat defending champs

The Osceola-High Plains Stormdogs showed plenty of resilience Wednesday night, scoring 24 unanswered points to finish the game in style, defeating the D1 defending state champs Creighton on their home field, 46-32.

As the snow flurries picked up in the second half, so too did the Stormdog offense. OHP would have trailed 24-6 at half if not for a last-second touchdown pass from Dylan Soule to Keaton Van Housen.

Carson Watts recovered a Creighton fumble OHP turned into a touchdown while Van Housen came up with a pick late in the third as the Stormdogs trailed Creighton, 32-30.

OHP took the lead 38-32 on a Soule QB sneak with nine minutes to play when the Stormdog defense rose to the occasion, stopping Creighon on a 4th an inches with 5:20 left.

Van Housen put the finishing touches on the final score of the game, putting OHP out front 46-32 before the Stormdogs stopped Creighton again on fourth down to secure the win.

The victory is OHP's sixth in a row, moving the Stormdogs to the D1 quarterfinals. The Stormdogs (8-2) will host top-seeded Howells-Dodge (10-0) next Tuesday.
