GINW bests Aurora in four

It's always an extra notch when Aurora and Grand Island Northwest compete in anything. That was certainly the case Tuesday night in volleyball.

In four grueling sets, the Class B No. 8 Vikings outlasted Aurora 25-21, 25-23, 14-25 and 31-29.

Aurora got behind early in each of the first two sets, but rallied to make a game out of each. In the end, GINW held a 2-0 lead in the match.

The third set was all Aurora, leading by as many as 11 to send it to a fourth, 25-14.

The fourth set was wild as each team had eight set point opportunites -- GINW with five and Aurora with three -- two attacks from the Vikings finished it off.

It was another balanced attack for Aurora as Paxtyn Dummer totaled 10 kills with Kassidy Hudson adding nine and Lauren Feely at seven.

Aurora will be in action Saturday at its home tournament.
