Field day keynote talks of community, flooding

More than 90 farmers, ranchers, community members and those in the agricultural sector gathered at the South Central Agricultural Laboratory (SCAL) Field Day Thursday near Clay Center, where they reviewed the state’s devastating flood situation and learned more about what is being done to help flood victims cope with the aftermath.
After explaining a bit about the Extension and its mission, David Varner showed pictures to the crowd of irrigation pivots under water, fields with six inches of sand on them and grain bins that had exploded along the Missouri River.
