Dr. Kenneth Treptow

Dr. Kenneth Treptow, age 90, of Aurora, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at Memorial Community Care.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, July 8th at the United Methodist Church in Aurora.  Rev. Michelle Reed will officiate.  Interment will be in the Sunrise North Cemetery in Wahoo at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 9th.  Visitation will be from 6 - 8 P.M. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. In lieu of flowers, memorials given to the family will be donated to World Vision in honor of Ken.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.

Kenneth Ray Treptow, the son of Ben and Martha (Kaufman) Treptow, was born in Ithaca, Nebraska on April 20, 1929 and passed away in Aurora, Nebraska on July 4, 2019, at the age of 90.

Ken grew up in Wahoo and attended Wahoo High School graduating in 1946.  He went on to attend University of Nebraska Medical Center and obtained his medical degree.

Ken served in the U.S. Air Force as a medical officer from July of 1953 until he was honorable discharged in June 1956.

On June 16, 1950, he was united in marriage to Retha M. Hanke in Swedeburg.  To this union they had three sons: Warren, Doug and Craig.  Ken worked as a physician all of his adult life. His wife Retha passed away on April 25, 2005. They celebrated 55 years of marriage.

On June 7, 2008, he married Sherilyn Larson in Aurora.

Ken was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church.  He was a very faithful servant to the church. He was chairman of the building committee in building the current church.   

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Retha and son-in-law, Randy Shackleton.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sherilyn of Aurora; three sons, Dr. Warren Treptow (and wife Angelica) of League City, Texas, Dr. Doug Treptow (and wife, Glennis) of Rogers, Arkansas, and Dr. Craig Treptow (and his wife, Dr. Robin) of Great Falls, Montana. Sherilyn’s children, son,  Douglas (Jane) Larson of Leawood, Kansas; daughters Rhonda (Greg) Harrelson of Olathe, Missouri and Marjorie Shackleton of Gibbon. Ken and Sherilyn were blessed with many grandchildren and great grand children. He is also survived by one brother, Keith along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
