Barbara Ann Griffith Weems, Atlanta, Texas, passed from this life on May 25, 2019 at her home. She was born on the family farm at Aurora to Andrew and Gertrude (Neuhart) Griffith on Feb. 25, 1941. She attended rural District 82 through the eighth grade, graduated from Aurora High School in 1958 and later Bellevue University while living in Ord. While living in Ainsworth and Ord she was a paralegal for her husband’s law firm. Barbara was the retired Foundation Director of the Atlanta Memorial Hospital Foundation. She was a member of the local book club, garden club and the current president of the Women’s Association for the Northwood Presbyterian Church.
She married her high school classmate J. Marvin Weems on May 19, 1959. She is survived by her husband Marvin; son Doug (Kerry) Weems of Kansas City; and daughters Dr. Pam Weems of Denver, CO; Dr. Lisa Diane Weems of Oxford, OH; and Amy Jo Weems of Seattle, WA. She is also survived by a brother Eugene (Gwen) Griffith, two sisters Linda Marquardt and Genene Willis, and a sister-in-law Dr. Marilyn Wells, plus four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Albert “Bill” Griffith; sister-in-law Shirley Griffith; three brothers-in-law Robert Willis, Don Marquardt and Kenneth Wells.
A memorial service was held on May 29 at Northwood Presbyterian Church in Texarkana, TX with Dr. Cheryl Bourn officiating. Her cremains will be inurned at the Aurora Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 29. Digital condolences may be made in her honor at
