Kremer recalled by 9-vote margin

Gregg Kremer’s tenure on the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners will soon be over after patrons in his district voted Tuesday to remove him from office in a recall election decided by just nine votes.
With an unofficial final tally of 176 votes for and 167 against, Kremer was successfully recalled in an election that drew just 29 percent of eligible voters from District 4.
Absentee ballots were the first posted at the Hamilton County Courthouse, showing 40 yes votes and 66 no votes. Precinct 3 showed 6 yes votes and 5 no votes, followed by Precinct 4 with 18 yes votes and 31 no votes.
The city’s Ward 2 swung the final tally the other way, with 112 yes votes and 65 no.
Hamilton County Election Commissioner Jill DeMers reported that a recount is required if the final margin is 1 percent or less, meaning that there will be no recount. She said the Canvassing Board will convene Thursday to make the results official.
