The Aurora girls basketball team trailed by 16 at halftime and rallied within two in the second half, but its second half efforts fell short in a 51-45 loss to Grand Island Northwest in the opening round of the B-6 subdistrict tournament Monday night.

GINW finished the first half on a 9-0 run to take a 32-16 at the break before Aurora began to connect on some shots in the third quarter.

In fact, Aurora finished the third quarter on a 12-4 run to trail 39-35 entering the final quarter.

A Paxtyn Dummer shot in the paint made it 39-37 with seven minutes to play, but Aurora would never get out front and missed several three-pointers down the stretch.

In her final game as a Lady Husky, Maya Nachtigal led Aurora with 16 points while Cassidy Knust added 11.

Along with Nachtigal, it was the final game for seniors Hailey Holliday, Megan Snyder and Jaelyn McDonald. Aurora finished the season with an 8-15 record.
