Storm earn two district titles

High Plains senior Logan Russell is carrying the flag for High Plains at the D-2 district meet in Amherst and is one of four state qualifiers for the Storm as he punched a ticket to the state wrestling tourament in Omaha for the fourth time and still has a chance to three-peat as Class D 106 champ. Russell came from behind to win a 3-2 decision with a takedown in the third period. 

Joining Russell on the road to Omaha is Dylan Soule at 160 after winning his own district championship with a late takedown in the finals to win a 6-5 decision. This will be Soule's third trip to the state tournament as a junior. Soule takes a 39-9 record to the state tournament next week. 

Clay Church was the third Storm wrestler to punch his ticket to state after earning a pinfall victory in the heartbreak round and won his third place match to qualify at 132.  

Jarrett Parsons became the fourth High Plains wrestler to earn a trip to Omaha with a wild 3-2 decision in the hearbreak round and later earned a third place finish at 145. 

The state wrestling meet will be held at the CHI Health Center in Omaha Feb. 14-16.
