Aurora tallies four to Omaha

Caden Svoboda highlighted Aurora's efforts at the B-3 district meet by winning a district title at 106 and is one of four Husky wrestlers headed to the state tournament in Omaha next week.

Svoboda won a 5-0 decision in the finals as part of a near-perfect two-day event for the sophomore and takes a 41-3 record to state in his second appearance.

Aurora had two other wrestlers -- Trevor Kluck at 132 and Seth Wonch at 145 -- competing for district titles but both came away with runner-up finishes.

Kluck lost a 4-0 decision in the finals and takes a 41-3 record to state in his second appearance.

As for Wonch, the senior lost an 8-1 decision in the finals and sports a 42-6 record headed to Omaha next week for his second appearance.

Aurora's final state qualifier is Carter Pursley, who worked his way through the hearbreak round following a loss in the semifinals and eventually finished third with a pin. The senior will make his second appearance in Omaha with a 35-6 record.

Speaking of the heartbreak round, there was plenty of it for the host Huskies, who had seven wrestlers competing in the win-or-go-home round, but only Pursley survived and advanced.

The state wrestling meet will be held at the CHI Health Center in Omaha Feb. 14-16.
