Girls subdistrict brackets released

The girls basketball subdistrict brackets were released Thursday morning by the NSAA and are set to begin play Monday and go through Feb. 14. 

Class B-6

The Aurora Lady Huskies (8-13) were given the No. 4 seed and will play No. 1 Grand Island Northwest (14-5) Monday at 6 p.m. at Northwest High School. No. 2 Hastings (8-7) and No. 3 York (9-11) will play at 7:30 and the two winners of those games will play Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Northwest. Earlier this season, Aurora lost to GINW 47-32 Dec. 20, defeated York 41-35 Dec. 14 and beat Hastings 31-22 Jan. 8.

Class D1-4

The Giltner Lady Hornets (10-9) are the No. 2 seed and will play No. 3 Harvard (7-12) at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at Grand Island Central Catholic. Lawrence-Nelson (18-3) is the No. 1 seed and will play No. 4 Shelton (0-18) with the winners of those two games playing Feb. 14 at GICC with a 7 p.m. tip. Earlier this season, Giltner defeated Harvard 59-20 Nov. 29 and lost to Lawrence-Nelson 41-32 Jan. 3 but hasn't played Shelton. 

Class D1-5

No. 5 High Plains (4-13) will have a play-in game against No. 4 Nebraska Christian (10-11) Monday at Shelby with a 7 p.m. tip. The winner of that game will play No. 1 Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family (18-3) Tuesday at 6 p.m. The other game features No. 2 Fullerton (13-8) and No. 3 Howells-Dodge (8-12). Finals are set for Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. in Shelby. On the year, High Plains lost to Nebraska Christian 33-15 Dec. 11 as well as Fullerton, 39-15 Jan. 4 without playing the other two teams. 

Class D2-6

No. 4 Hampton (5-13) will also have a play-in game vs No. 5 Heartland Lutheran (3-16) Monday at Sandy Creek with a 7 p.m. tip. The winner there will move on to play No. 1 Kenesaw (11-7) Tuesday at 6 p.m. The other game features No. 2 Silver Lake (13-6) and No. 3 Red Cloud (12-10). Finals are set for Feb 14 at 7 p.m. in Sandy Creek. The Lady Hawks defeated Heartland Lutheran 40-24 Jan. 8 but has not played the other three teams.
