Donald Mickey, age 81, of Aurora, formerly of Osceola, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019, at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 9 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora.  Rev. Loras Grell will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Tabitha Hospice, the Aurora Volunteer Fire Dept. or the Osceola Volunteer Fire Dept.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Donald Wayne Mickey, the son of John and Ethel (Waite) Mickey, was born in Osceola, on Aug. 8, 1937 and passed away in Aurora, on Feb. 6, 2019, at the age of 81.
Don grew up on a farm near Osceola.  He attended school in Osceola and graduated from Osceola High School.
Don was united in marriage to Murlene Miller on Oct. 11, 1954 at Schuyler.  They had two children, Debi and Curtis. They farmed in the Osceola area for 26 years and had other various jobs until retirement.  They moved to Aurora in 2006, to be closer to family.
Don especially liked to spend time with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.  They were especially grateful when he made them homemade ice cream.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; 5 siblings, Louis, Bob, Irene, Fern, Grace and Maxine.
Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Murlene of Aurora; daughter, Debi Pliefke of Osceola; son, Curt (Mary) Mickey of Phillips; 5 grandchildren, Sommer (Darvell) Harrison, Megan (Don) Natale, Jesse (Jennifer) Pliefke, Michaela (Cole) Proper and Clint (Barbie) Mickey; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Shirley Baker, Hazel (Jim) Disel and Helen Lavicky; 2 brothers, Jack (Phyllis) Mickey and Vaughn (Bonnie) Mickey and other family members and friends.
