Huskies 4-peat as CC champs

No one in the Central Conference had ever won the boys basketball tournament three years in a row until Aurora accomplished the feat in 2018. The Huskies added on to that mark Saturday night in a raucous Duke Dome.

Aurora weathered a late York storm to defeat the Dukes 61-58 to win its fourth consecutive Central Conference tournament crown.

The Huskies led 40-33 entering the fourth quarter and built a lead as big as nine early on. As the game got more physical late and the fouls continued to rack up on both sides, Cade Reichardt, Baylor Scheierman and others went to the line to try and ice the game for Aurora.

Scheierman, who played the final 5:40 of the game with four fouls, was continually in and out of the lineup down the stretch.

York's Brady Danielson, a Northern State basketball commit, did everything he could to give his team a chance, hitting on a couple three's in the final minute -- one that put the Dukes down 59-58 with 10 seconds to play.

Jordan Stevenson hit one of two free throws to make it a 60-58 game, which gave Danielson a look at three to win the game, but ultimately missed its mark.

Reichardt led the scoring attack for the Huskies with 22 points while Scheierman added 15.
