Memorial service for Drew D. Wiese, 61, of Norfolk will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 11, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Norfolk with Pastor Caleb Lind officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., Thursday also at the First Baptist Church.
Drew passed away at his home in Norfolk on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019. Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk is in charge of the arrangements.
Drew Daryl Wiese, the son of Dewey and Jerene “Jerry” (Huffaker) Wiese, was born Nov. 19, 1957, in Manilla, Iowa. He attended grade school in Manilla, and graduated from Manilla High School in 1976. He then went on to study horticulture at the community college in Mason City, Iowa. He married Jamie Hargens in August 1980. They later divorced. He married Theresa Ferry on June 1, 2001, at Gilman Park in Pierce. Theresa died May 7, 2018. After Drew married Theresa, he worked for Farm and Garden in Pierce. He drove grain trucks and propane trucks throughout Northeast Nebraska. He then worked for Union Pacific Railroad in Nebraska for numerous years. Drew also had worked for ABC Storage in Norfolk, and he most recently worked as a custodian for Northeast Community College.
Drew had many hobbies, including collecting antiques, mushroom hunting, fishing, camping, riding motorcycles, training his dogs and collecting lanterns and flashlights. Drew enjoyed his dry humor and had his own way of being witty and comical. He loved his spouse dearly and enjoyed their summer trips together and with family. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Norfolk.
Survivors include a son, Dustin Wiese of Carroll, Iowa; stepchildren, Nathanial Ferry of Winside, Joseph (Andrea) Luna of Norfolk and Danielle Luna of Norfolk; six step-grandchildren, Marketta, Myles, Baden, Brendyn, Noah and Wesley; numerous nieces and nephews; his sisters-in-law, Tamela (Kevin) Korth of Pilger and Tonette (Jeff) Bates of Plainview; a brother-in-law, Tim (Carrie) Ferry of Osmond; his mother-in-law, Joyce Ferry of Norfolk; and his dog, Harley.
He was preceded in death by his spouse, Theresa; his parents, Dewey and Jerry; his sisters, Jerlyn Fox and Darla Wiese; and his dog, Angel. Music will be provided by pianist Darlene Wolff. Congregational music will be “Nearer My God to Thee,” “Abide With Me,” “In The Garden” and “How Great Thou Art.” Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.stonacekfuneralchapel.com.
