Lady Huskies qualify for state

In arguably one of the toughest Class B cross country district meets, the Aurora girls found a way to persevere and finish third behind Lincoln Pius X and Norris to squeeze into next week's state meet as a team. Pius won the girls title with a total of 19 points while Norris edged out Aurora for 2nd with 47 points to Aurora's 50. The Lady Huskies were paced by Maya Nachtigal, who was a runner-up finisher in a time of 20:03.10. Kyla Carlson was the other top finisher for Aurora, coming in 12th in a time of 21:01.12. Elena Kuehner finished 17th, Avril Jones was 19th, Jaelyn McDonald finished 20th, and Bailey Moody came home 29th. The Lady Huskies will compete at the Class B state meet at the Kearney Country Club next Friday. The Class B girls race begins at 12:30 p.m. with the awards ceremony at 2:30 p.m.
