The Aurora boys cross country team has found a different gear over the past couple of weeks, and they showed that speed off Thursday at the B-3 district meet in Beatrice, winning the team title over Lincoln Pius X and Columbus. The Huskies totaled 39 team points while Pius finished 2nd with 48 and Columbus had 51. Aurora was paced on the day by Ben Springer, who finished third in the individual race in a time of 17:05.02 while teammate Kane Fiala wasn't far behind in fifth, 17:09.98. It wasn't hard to find the rest of the Husky lineup, finishing nose-to-tail from 15th to 18th in the order of Colin Thieszen, Dylan Riley, Max Wiarda and Eli Warnke. The Huskies will compete at the Class B state meet next Friday at the Kearney Country Club. The Class B boys race is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. with awards at 2:30 p.m.
