Hampton school budget shows 1.7% drop in tax asking

The Hampton School Board approved its fiscal year budget Monday, signing off on a 1.7 percent decrease in total tax asking.
Supt. Holly Herzberg noted that for the second consecutive year the district’s property valuation went down, which impacted the final numbers. Property values within the district dropped 3.7 percent last year and 4.7 percent in 2016, representing a $32 million overall decrease.
