Areas south of I-80 in for a dry spell that could extend north

As the crops around the county emerge, soil moisture is on most farmers’ minds and with that comes the constant watch that they keep on the weather. While areas of central and northern Hamilton County have been seeing plenty of moisture with the last couple rain events, the areas south of the interstate have not been seeing that moisture.
“Right now the major concern is that the area south of Interstate 80 has been missing out on many of these precipitation events that seem to be inundating much of central and eastern Nebraska and you can take that all the way back to the Panhandle,” said Al Dutcher, associate Nebraska state climatologist.
