Emergence imperative as crops begin to sprout

As fields around the county begin to green up, emergence is something that farmers must really keep an eye on to protect yields come fall.
“Most of the crop is probably planted now. Last Monday’s report from USDA NASS suggested 72 percent of the corn was in, which is pretty close to last year, with soybeans we are ahead of normal,” said Roger Elmore, Extension cropping systems agronomist.
