Joel Bean

Joel Alan Bean, a 1984 graduate of Aurora High School, died suddenly Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018 at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Joel was a registered nurse working at the Kearney Medical Center  and a 31 year National Guard member enlisting in 1987, serving in Iraq and was currently serving at the rank of 1st Sargent with the 1075 Transportation Company out of North Platte.
Joel was born March 12, 1966 at Cozad, to James L. Bean and Patricia (Coons) Bean. He attended school in Lexington until 1978 when moving to Aurora. He was on the wrestling team, football and track teams. He attended Kearney State College and Central Community College in Grand Island earning a Nursing Degree. He married Stacy Gorr on March 16, 1998 in Kearney. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Stacy (Gorr) Bean and two sons, Caleb and Josh of Kearney, a daughter Ashley (Wall) Stovall and family of Lincoln, his mother and step-dad, William G. and Patricia Gage of Aurora, parents-in-law Dennis and Barbara Gorr of Scottsbluff, sister Christa (Kenelly) Cervantes of KY and family, Chantel, Jessica, Jennifer and Jared, step-brother Brent (Michelle) Gage, Christopher, Austin, William and Alycia, brother-in-law Matt (Jessica) Gorr and family, four great nieces and nephews and many close friends and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Bean, two infant brothers and grandparents Wayne and Laceil Coons and Walter and Pearl Bean.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the First Lutheran Church in Kearney with burial at the Kearney Cemetery with the military honors from the National Guard Funeral Honor’s Team, Kearney American Legion Post 52 and Kearney Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 759 participating.
Homer Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney were in charge of arrangements.
