Huskies statebound

For the third year in a row, the Aurora boys basketball team has punched a ticket to the state tournament in Lincoln by winning a district championship, this time by defeating Seward 47-35 Saturday afternoon at the Aurora Sports Complex.

Seward's only lead came at the jump of the game, but didn't allow the Huskies to build a double digit lead until the fourth quarter. Aurora entered the fourth up 34-29 when Baylor Scheierman scored 10 of his 21 points to push the lead to an insurmountable margin.

Behind Scheierman's 21 points was Henry Penner, who scored nine of his 11 total points in the first half.

Aurora's first round matchup at the state tournament March 8 has yet to be determined as other district final matchups are still being played around the state. Check back with the News-Register for updates.
