Tammy M. Fleming

Tammy M. Fleming, 55, of Polk, died on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 at Merrick Medical Center in Central City.  Funeral services will be on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Clarks with Father David Fulton officiating.  Visitation will be on Monday, Nov. 13 from 5-7 p.m. with 7 p.m. vigil service at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Clarks.  Interment will be at Arborville Cemetery, near Polk.

Tammy Maria, was born on Oct. 30, 1962 in Denver, Colorado to Rudy Lopez and Phyllis (Knight) Johnson.  Tammy grew up in the Central City area, and attended Central City Public Schools until her sophomore year, when she moved to Polk and graduated from Polk High School in 1981.  Following graduation, Tammy attended UNL for a year, then moved back to Polk, to help care for her ill mother.  While in Polk, she worked at Coach’s Corner, as well as Diamond Plastics in Grand Island.  On Sept. 18, 1990 Tammy married Mike Fleming in Las Vegas.  They made their home in the Polk area, where she would stay at home raising their four children.
Tammy was a member of the St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Clarks, as well as the Altar Society.  She enjoyed coaching little league baseball in Polk, gardening, canning, and tending to her lawn.  Her greatest love was being able to attend her children’s sporting events, and getting to be around her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are; Mike Fleming of Polk, her children; Ashley Fleming of Polk, Ethan Fleming of McCool Junction, Logan Fleming of Yankton, SD and Wyatt Fleming of Polk, her sister; Liz Burr of Iowa, her half-sister; Sarah Justice of Lincoln, her aunt; Judy (John) Griego of Marquette, and her step-dad; Duane (Marge) Johnson of Polk.
She was preceded in death by her mother; Phyllis Johnson, and her grandparents; Paul and Maria Bauer.
