Field day in Polk explores strip tilling, fertility

Area farmers and High Plains Community School FFA students gathered in Polk Sept. 6 for a field day focused on strip tillage and soil fertility. Orthman partnered with Nick Hatfield and Dennis Stevens, plot owners, to bring in independent agronomist Mike Peterson who works with clients in Colorado, western Kansas, the northern panhandle of Texas and western Nebraska.
The goal of the field day was to provide farmers, young and old, information regarding new technology on the horizon for strip tillage, fertility and fertility placement.
