4R board cuts budget, levy still goes up

The 4R board approved its budget Monday showing a 1.57 cent increase in the levy, but a 4.2 percent decrease in the total budget. The 6 percent decrease in this year’s valuations outweighed the budget cuts that the board was able to make.
Increases in the budget included insurance rates, new open enrollment benefit procedures, state aid, special education services, early childhood services, and staff compensation.
