Aurora City Council considering pay raise for elected officials

After comparing pay levels for Aurora’s elected officials with other Nebraska communities, Mayor Dave Long urged the city council last week to consider raising compensation for the mayor and council since the population has increased considerably since the last pay raise in 1974.
Long said he looked into the issue on his own initiative, reporting that council members receive $600 per year, with the mayor’s position double that at $1,200 per year. Read more in this week's print or e-editions.
