City shuts down well due to high nitrate levels

A recent quarterly sample taken from one of Aurora’s five domestic drinking water wells resulted in discovering an average concentration of nitrates at 11 milligrams per liter, which is one milligram per liter higher than the allowable level.
“In compliance with Nebraska drinking water standards we perform quarterly samples of all of our wells,” said city utilities superintendent Adam Darbro.
