Betty A. Fruits

Betty A. Fruits passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017, at her home in Hamilton Manor in Aurora.  Mrs. Fruits will be cremated and there will be no services.
Mrs. Fruits was born Betty Arlene Fowler to Sylvester and Elva Fowler on August 31, 1924 in Kansas City, MO. The family moved to Lincoln in 1926.  Mrs. Fruits attended Clinton and Elliot Elementary Schools and graduated From Whittier Junior High Schools in 1939 and from Lincoln High School in 1942.  After graduation, Mrs. Fruits worked at Western Electric in Lincoln and Woodmen Accident as assistant to the head of the accounting department.
Mrs. Fruits married Hadley W. Fruits in Fremont on February 14, 1969. During their stay in Fremont, Mrs. Fruits was employed at Schewser Department Store in the accounting department and was the media technician at the Dodge County Memorial Hospital where she also volunteered as a Grey Lady. Upon their move to Cozad, Mrs. Fruits was employed at the TriCity Tribune in the advertising department. Later they moved to Aurora, where she was assistant to the office manager at the Nebraska Leadership Center.
Upon her retirement, she volunteered at the Aurora Animal Shelter and the Senior Center.  Mrs. Fruits loved to dance. She and her husband performed in the Dodge County Memorial Hospital Follies in Fremont and entered several dance contests placing and/or winning in three. They taught couples dance in Cozad and Elwood and she also taught dance/exercise classes. Upon their move to Aurora, she continued teaching for several years.
She is survived by her son, Rodney Tiner and 3 grandchildren, all of Peoria, AZ; step-son, Hadley “Tad” Fruits, IN; step-daughters, Catherine O’Doherty and Laura Murphy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, sister, and step-father.
