Hamilton installing all-fiber network to the home

The ongoing evolution of the area’s telecommunications infrastructure will take a giant leap forward with Hamilton Telecommunications’ announced plan to expand its fiber network to subscribers throughout the Hamilton Telephone exchange by providing direct fiber optic connections to the home.
Almost 10 years after launching a “three-mile fiber project” designed to bring high-speed internet connections closer to homes in Hamilton County and the surrounding areas, the locally-owned company has decided to stop installing copper and bridge that three-mile gap with fiber. The multi-million dollar conversion from DSL and other platforms is expected to take three to five years to complete, with more than half of the company’s 4,800 customers getting direct fiber access within the next two years.
