Huskies throttle Elkhorn South

Tommy Leininger went full beast mode Thursday night inside the Bob Devaney Sports Center, scoring 20 points in the first half of an impressive 75-46 victory over Elkhorn South in the first round of the Class B boys state tournament. All of Leininger's leading 20 points came in the first half, 12 of which coming from behind the arc. Henry Penner added a double-double for the Huskies with 15 points and 11 boards.

Aurora moves on to the semifinals to face Scottsbluff in Friday’s semifinals at 3:45 p.m. at Pinnacle Bank Arena. It is a rematch of last year's semifinal game in which the Bearcats defeated the Huskies 65-59.

In other Class B action, Alliance defeated Platteview 65-60 while Gretna was victorious over Bennington 59-36. Those two teams play a semifinal matchup Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Pinnicle Bank Arena.
