Wind project proposed in county

The Hamilton County Joint Planning Commission continued drafting rough draft regulations last week which if approved could open the door for wind energy turbines to be constructed in the county.
Planners have been discussing the pros and cons of wind energy since December in response to a proposal by Bluestem Energy Solutions, an Omaha-based company involved with numerous wind and solar energy projects throughout Nebraska. Bluestem has already contracted with Southern Power District to sell energy generated by four, 270-foot turbines proposed on a site southwest of Aurora near Interstate 80. For more details, see this week's print or e-editions.
