Lady Huskies win conference title for first time since 1982

The mantra of the Aurora Lady Huskies’ season has been defense, defense and defense, and it was the defense that clinched Aurora’s first conference championship in recent memory.
The Lady Huskies fended off a last-ditch effort by York as the final horn sounded Saturday, defeating the Dukes 41-39. Coach Sara Partington checked the record books before the tournament started looking for the last time Aurora won the gold, and said it was 1982.
“I am so proud of this team. They worked so hard. Every day in practice they come in wanting to get better,” Partington said. “We talk about always having a focused practice and we’ve been doing that. They work so hard and they deserve this. I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
