Iola Fassnacht, age 88, of Hampton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 24, 2016, at Memorial Community Care in Aurora.
 Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 28 at the United Lutheran Church in Hampton.  Rev. Howard Rasmussen and Rev. Delmer Klover will officiate.  Interment will be in the Hampton Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora.  Iola Mae Fassnacht, the daughter of Clara A. Peterson, was born in Stromsburg, on April 13, 1927 and passed away peacefully in Aurora, on January 24, 2016, at the age of 88.
She grew up in Stromsburg and graduated from Stromsburg High School.  Iola attended York College for three summers.  She taught school in York County at Dist. 4 for three years and Dist. 9 for two years.
Iola was united in marriage to Ramer R. Fassnacht on June 11, 1950 at Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg.  They lived southwest of McCool until moving to a farm northeast of Hampton.   Iola was a house wife, mother to their three daughters and helped Ramer with their Angus cattle.  They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this past June.
 Iola was a member of the Hampton United Lutheran Church, where she had served on council and held offices in the Ladies Society.  She was also a member of the Pause Awhile Club and lifetime member of the American Angus Association since 1952.  Iola enjoyed collecting stamps, crocheting, knitting and talking on phone daily to her friends.
 She was preceded in death by her mother, and son-in-law, Barry Elder, sister-in-law Louise Hasenkamp and brothers-in-law, Arch Thompson, Warren Hasenkamp and Dwight Fassnacht.
 Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Ramer of Hampton; three daughters, Glenell (Ralph) Ratzlaff of Henderson, Joleen (David) Gustafson of Wakefield and Teresa Elder-Smith and Kirt Smith of Aurora; two granddaughters, Katie Elder and Elizabeth Smith; brother-in-law, Harley (Jo) Fassnacht of Aurora and three sisters-in-law, Byrdene Thompson of Perry, Iowa, Margel Fassnacht of Fairmont and Naomi Fassnacht of Fairmont.
