Arnold Otto, age 82, of Aurora, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016, at the Hamilton Manor.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, January 8 at Higby-McQuiston Chapel in Aurora. Interment will be in the Phillips Cemetery. No Visitation.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Phillips Youth Baseball Program. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at
Arnold Eugene Otto, the son of W. Gordon and Wilma (Arnold) Otto, was born in rural Phillips, on July 4, 1933 and died in Aurora, on January 4, 2016 at the age of 82 years.
He grew up in Phillips, where his family owned Otto’s Service.  Arnold graduated from Phillips High School in 1950, received a diploma from Northwest Radio and Television in Hollywood, California and a Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education from UNL.
Arnold was married to Phyllis Rohay and to this union they had one son, John.  Prior to his education at UNL he was manager of theatre productions in several theaters on the West Coast.  After his education at UNL Arnold managed a used and out of print bookstore for UNL in the early 1970’s.  In 1974 he moved to Las Vegas where he lived until 2004, Arnold returned to Aurora to be closer to family and friends.
Arnold was involved in the Nebraska Historical Society.  He attended the Democratic Convention as a representative of Hamilton County in 1964 and 1968.  Arnold enjoyed watching any sports related to the University of Nebraska or the family kids sports teams.  He loved spending time at Susan’s Books & Gifts or any bookstore, as he was an avid bookworm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Richard L. Otto Sr.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, John Gordon Bisso and his wife Lorinda of Lewiston, Idaho; two grandsons, John William Bisso and Gordon Patrick Bisso of Lewiston, Idaho; two nephews, Jay Otto and his wife Michelle and their children, Jeremy, Anthony, Brandon, Devin, Alexi and Carlynda of Phillips and Rick Otto and his wife Sherry and their children, Derek, Shannon and family and Stephanie and family of Grand Island.
