Sharon A. Mason, age 74, of Grand Island, formerly of Hampton, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Golden Living-Lakeview.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 8 at the Chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Pastor Jim Garfield will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date. No Visitation. Sharon Ann Mason, the daughter of Everett and Marvel (Swanson) McCray, was born in Wolbach, on July 18, 1941 and passed away in Grand Island, on December 30, 2015, at the age of 74.
Sharon grew up in Wolbach and graduated from Wolbach High School, where she was Prom Queen and lettered in volleyball and basketball.  After graduation she moved to Lincoln, where she worked for Cedars Home for Children.
Sharon married James LeRoy Mason on March 3, 1962. They owned and ran Nibbys Gas Station in Wolbach and then managed Rite-way Gas Station in Aurora. She worked at Lippincott’s for several years before retiring from Bonnavilla after 15 years of service. Jim passed away on December 31, 2014.
Sharon enjoyed collecting dolls and roosters.  She earned many awards over the years for her bowling.  Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her children and grandchildren.
Sharon was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach, where she served as a Sunday School teacher.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two grandchildren, Jonathon Van Housen and Aerion Mason and a great-grandbaby.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Patty (Paul) Van Housen of Aurora, Jim Mason and fiancé Jenilee Van Wormer of Aurora and John Mason of Hampton; 10 grandchildren, Timothy Van Housen and Angela Cuda, Joshua Van Housen and fiancé Elizabeth Prawl, Austin Mason, Ryan, Kyleigh and Morgan Van Wormer, Camron Vandermate, Mercedes, Katerina and Emily Mason and 4 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by two brothers, Dan (Ella) McCray of St. Paul and Gary (Kathy) McCray of Grand Island and sister, Janice (Ken) Rose of Agra, Kansas.
