Arlene Salmon, age 92, of Grand Island, passed away Monday, December 21, 2015, at Tiffany Square.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 28 at the Chapel of Higby-McQuiston in Aurora. Rev. Paul Nauman will officiate. Interment will be in Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at
Arlene Twila Salmon, the daughter of Roy and Mamie (Bozell) Eckerson, was born at Aurora, Nebraska on December 16, 1923 and passed away in Grand Island, Nebraska on December 21, 2015, at the age of 92.
Arlene grew up in Hamilton County, where she attended school and went on to be a school teacher.
Arlene married Wilbur L. Salmon on September 1, 1946. They farmed in the Stockham area for 40 years. Arlene raised their three sons: Jerry, Dennis and Lonnie.  They retired in 1986 and moved to Grand Island. Wilbur passed away on January 5, 2013.
Arlene was a Sunday School teacher in Stockham.  She was a volunteer at the Stuhr Museum and Bloodmobile.  Arlene enjoyed cooking and canning, flowers, gardening and tending to livestock.  She especially enjoyed her family and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Verla Lantzer.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Jerry (Mamie) Salmon of Geneva, Dennis (Vicki) Salmon of Hastings and Lonnie (Diane) Salmon of Aurora; 8 grandchildren, Roddy (Jeanne) Salmon of Geneva, Joey (Kathy) Salmon of Geneva, Julie (Andy) Tiemeyer of Columbus, Heather (Kevin) Bonin of Geneva, Adam (Yael) Salmon of San Antonio, Texas, Krystal Salmon& special friend Tyler Bees of Omaha, Kerry (Randy) Slaymaker of Kearney and Colt (Jasmin) Salmon of Sutton; 15 great-grandchildren, Tyler Salmon of Fairmont, Jesse Salmon of Geneva, Madison and Emma Bonin of Geneva, Ivy, Alex and Dillon Salmon of Geneva, Jerron, Jenebel, Jenesa and Jaden of Columbus, Maya Salmon of San Antonio, Texas, Kensley and Kaden Slaymaker of Kearney and Zoe Salmon of Sutton; one great-great grandchild, MacKenzie Maloley of Fairmont; sister, Doris (Lyle) Jones of Lincoln and sister-in-law, Imogene Farthing of Florida.
