Hastings resident, Alice Lena Locke, 100, of Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion, died July 24, 2015 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings.
Services will be Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Hastings with Rev. Charles Webster officiating.  A service will also be held Friday, July 31, 2015 at 10 a.m. in El Dorado, Kansas at Kirby Morris Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Eugene Locke and Rev. Dr. Howard Gleason officiating.  Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery in El Dorado. Visitation is Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings, and one hour prior to services at the church.  Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church in Hastings, The Kenneth and Alice Locke Family Scholarship at Hastings College, or McCormick Seminary in Chicago.  Private condolences may be sent to the family at  Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family.
Alice Locke was born November 6, 1914, to Arthur Gfeller and Katherine (Knauss) Gfeller in Burns, Kansas. Alice married Kenneth R. Locke June 5, 1938.  She attended El Dorado Junior College and Emporia State Teachers College.  She served as mother, teacher and pastor’s wife in Presbyterian churches in Lagro, Indiana; Bennett; Aurora; Grand Island; Kansas City, Kansas; and was an elder at First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson City, Missouri while Ken served as Missouri Union Presbytery Executive in Jefferson City and many interim ministries in Missouri and other states.  
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; parents; sister, Emma Gfeller; infant son, Edward Locke; and infant great-grandson, Charlie Fruehling.
Survivors include: sister Rosemary Gfeller, Hastings; sister-in-law Wilma Watkins,  Prescott, AZ; son and spouse    Dr. Will and Virginia Locke, Hastings; daughter and spouse Rosella and Rev. Dr. Howard Gleason, St. Louis, MO; son and spouse Rev. Dr. Eugene and Mary Locke - Charlottesville, VA; daughter and spouse Katherine and Thomas Klamm, Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren:     Laura Locke, Asheville NC; Kenneth and Angie Locke, Wichita, KS and children Jacob and Cassidy, Ethan, Lawrence KS; Sarah and Christian Fruehling, Hastings,  and son Arich; Ben and Janet Gleason, St. Louis, MO and children Maia, Adelaide, and Zoe; Dr. Lisa Locke-Downer and Dr. Jason Downer, Charlottesville, VA and children Abigail, Lucas, and Zoey; Dr. Peter Locke, Chicago, IL; Julie and Max Wright, Colorado Springs, CO and children Max and Luke; Jennifer and Aaron Batte, Castle Rock, CO and children Jackson and Thompson.
