Ken Troester, age 86, of Hampton, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 11 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. Rev. Mike Neidow will officiate. Burial will be at 11 a.m. prior to the service at the Salem Cemetery. Visitation with family will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Kenneth Willard Troester, the son of William C. and Anna (Bamesberger) Troester, was born at York, on May 31,1928 and passed away in Hampton, on April 8, 2015, at the age of 86.
Ken grew up in the Hampton area and attended school at District 34 and Salem Lutheran.  He graduated from Hampton High School in 1945. Following school he farmed with his father.
Ken was united in marriage to Gretchen Suzanne McCray on August 27, 1950 at Aurora. They moved into Hampton in 1979.  Ken retired from farming in 1990.   
Ken lived his entire life in the Hampton area.  He held office in the Lutheran Church, served on the Hampton School Board and the Hamilton Manor Board for many years.  He loved his family and playing golf.  During his life he donated over 23 gallons of blood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Ed George.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gretchen of Hampton; five sons, Gene (Deb) Troester of Lincoln, Dick (Cindy) Troester of Grand Island, Phil (Linda) Troester of Hampton, Chris (Jan) Troester of Kansas City and Matt (Diane) Troester of Mokena, Illinois; daughter, Anne (Dan) Daly of Aurora; 19 grandchildren, Alyssa Troester, Erika Troester, Lauren Troester, Neal Troester, Amy Troester, Blake (Karisa) Troester, Jackie Troester, Ryan Troester, Blair Troester, Aaron (Jessi) Troester, Ann (Steve) Hohnstadt, Rachel Troester and fiancé Randy Schuster, Nathan Troester, Mitchell Troester, Ian Troester, Amber (Matt) Olsen, Sara (Matt) Myers, Kara (Nathan) Ronnau and Michael (Katie) Fagan; 2 step-grandchildren, April (Jerrod) Phillip and Amanda (Ryan) Medinger and 16 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by two brothers, Don (Norma) Troester of Aurora and Jerry (Bev) Troester of St. Louis, Missouri and caregivers, Lisa Chessmore and Belinda Lucas.
