Betty Larson, age 76, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015, at the Hamilton Manor.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 9 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Mary Scott will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Memorials may be made in care of the family.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at
Betty L. Larson, the daughter of Elbert and Della (Brown) Black, was born at Bolivar, Missouri on April 21, 1938 and passed away in Aurora on April 4, 2015, at the age of 76.
Betty grew up in Bolivar, Missouri and moved to Grand Island in 1956 after graduating from Bolivar High School.  Following graduation she moved to Grand Island where her sisters were living and worked at Hesteds Co.
Betty was united in marriage to Robert D. (The Bear) Larson on December 16, 1956 in Aurora.  Betty worked as an interior decorator for many years; many knew her as “Betty the Painter”.  She loved antiques and refinishing them for herself and other people. Betty babysat for 16 years with her grandchildren and a special neighbor boy.
Betty took pride in her garden, especially her flowers.  She took pleasure in cooking and baking for her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Brent Larson and two sisters, Ruby (Blacketer) Lovell and Willa Mae Koch.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bob Larson of Aurora; one son, Bruce (Rose) Larson of Aurora; one daughter, Brenda (Rich) Edwards of Omaha; 4 grandchildren, Rob Larson of Aurora, Melissa Larson of Grand Island and Madison Edwards of Omaha and Morgan Edwards of Omaha; 2 sisters, Myrtle (Dave) Raile of Grand Island and Elberta (Don) Janes of Aurora and 2 brothers, J.R. (Sandra) Black and Bobby (Ann) Black all of Kansas City, Missouri.
