John M. Green Jr.

John M. Green Jr.  61, of Millard, died Sunday, February 1, 2015, at Bergan Mercy Hospital.  Services will be Friday, February 6, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Curran Funeral Chapel.  The Rev. Sheri Lodel will officiate.  Burial will be in the Blue Valley Cemetery in Ayr, with a 1:30 p.m. committal service.  
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Friday.   
John was an avid Husker fan and the family invites you to show your Husker pride by wearing Husker attire at the funeral service.  Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.  
John was born October 4, 1953, at Hastings.  He was the son of John M. and Barbara (Gerloff) Green Sr.
Survivors of the immediate family include his children and their spouses: Christopher and Amy of Wood River, Phillip of Grand Island, Courtney and Steven of Grand Island, seven grandchildren and one great grandson.
Sisters: Cindy and Wayne Harvey of Aurora, Patty Cameron and John Miller of Millard, nephew Doug Harvey and nieces, Bobbie Green and Kim Harvey, grand nieces and nephews, Carli, Logan, Jackson, and Nathan.
John traveled with his family living in several states until his father retired from the military in 1969.  They settled in rural Harvard, where John graduated from Harvard High School in 1972.   John was an accomplished baseball player while in high school and was invited to team try outs at the next level.  He was employed with Century Manufacturing and Bamford Plumbing in Aurora.  He worked in Grand Island, with Hobart, as a service technician until health issues forced him to retire in 1996.  John married three times in his life and from these relationships came his wonderful children.  In 2008 John moved in with his sister Patty, who had been his caregiver for the last 7 years.
He was an avid Husker fan and enjoyed Viking football, fishing, and in the springtime, hunting mushrooms.
Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.  
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Chris and Clara Gerloff and Myron and Ethyl Green.
