No. 2 Giltner girls take down No. 10 Lawrence-Nelson

D-2 No. 10 Lawrence-Nelson had thoughts of pulling off the upset of No. 2 Giltner Tuesday night, but they were turned away by the score of 36-24 on the Lady Hornets' home court. Giltner, now a perfect 10-0 on the season, was simply

too tall for the very undersized Lady Raiders. Neither team shot well in the game, but the the Lady Hornets recorded 15 offensive rebounds that turned out to be the difference in the game. Six-foot-two forward Baily Craig led her team with 17 points, but it was her defense and rebounding that bothered Lawrence-Nelson all night. It wasn't just Craig, either. Another six-footer, junior Chainey Tompkin, and senior veteran forward Kelbie Lyon, all patrolled the paint well and made life difficult for the visitors. Junior guard Taylor Rhoades scored seven points while Lyon added six. Freshman Reagan Janzen chipped in with four points while junior Audra Joyce had two points off a mid-range jumper late in the fourth quarter. The road doesn't get easier for Giltner. On Thursday they welcome D-1 No. 8 Bruning-Davenport-Shickley (9-1). Tip is set around 6:15 p.m.
