Northwest barely edges Aurora in dual

The Vikings' wrestlers hung on for a 42-41 win Thursday night in Aurora. The dual was the first action of the season for both teams. Senior Tanner Wonch tech-falled his opponent, Logan Luft, in the 170-pound division while mustache-clad classmate Jared Sullivan made quick work of Northwest's Josh Reimers, pinning him easily in the 160-pound division. Big men Nick Weber ( 220 lbs.) and Dalton Peters (285 lbs.) also pinned their opponents, as did 132-pounder Levi SaBell. The match of the night was most definitely the in 126-pound division, featuring Aurora's Trevor Alber and the Vikings' Wyatt Lilienthal. Down late, Alber came back to tie the match with nearly a minute left, then finished off Lilienthal before time expired for the Husky win, causing the crowd and raucous student section on their feet. The Huskies travel to Cozad on Saturday for a 9:30 a.m. tournament.
