Hampton loses to Heartland Lutheran

The Hampton Hawks traveled to Grand Island for what they thought might be their first win of the season.

Heartland Lutheran had not won a game in years and were 0-6, just like the Hawks. The Red Hornets had other plans as they won in style by the score of 50-7. They used a fast-paced tempo with three and four receiver sets to move the ball down the field through the air and found some success on the ground, too. Although they were winless this season, the Hawks still showed fight after halftime and never quit hitting in the game. That intensity resulted in a long scoring drive that featured a pass completion from junior running back Jesse Rasmussen to sophomore Devin Nissen out of a Wildcat formation. Nissen polished off the drive with a strong run up the gut for Hampton's lone touchdown. The Hawks hit the road for their last chance at a win when they take on Palmer (1-6) Friday at 7 p.m.
