Lady Storm grab first win of season against Riverside

The High Plains volleyball team left Palmer Tuesday night with a sour taste in its mouth after losing its second game of a triangular against the host-team Palmer Lady Tigers. they wouldn't go away quietly as they roared back to take the second set 25-23, which got the hometown crowd in the game and made it an awfully loud gymnasium. High Plains got off to a good start in the third set, holding a 4-1 lead thanks to a couple of Palmer mishits, an ace from High Plains sophomore Anna Reeves and a unconventional behind the back tip from senior Danielle Shenk that landed in between a couple of Palmer players for a score. The Lady Tigers lit up the scoreboard after that, however, and owned a huge 20-9 lead late in the contest. Shenk tried stop the Palmer onslaught by scoring another point off a well-placed tip to cut the lead to 10, but the deficit was too much to over come. High Plains fell 25-18. Shenk led the team with 14 kills. She also recorded the most digs, 16, on the team while senior Rachel Beck had 11.
