No. 3 Hampton takes down No. 2 Giltner

The No. 3-ranked Hampton Lady Hawks saw the defending D-2 state champs come into its gym, and they watched them leave with their first loss in a triangular with Dorchester Thursday night. It wasn't looking good midway through the third and final set as Hampton was down 17-12, but it managed to cut the deficit to just one point to make the score 19-18. Sophomore Madison Vanhousen then rattled off three straight aces to put the Lady Hawks on top 21-19 and shoot momentum Hampton's way.

Giltner answered and both teams traded points until Hampton led 27-26 and fired the ball into the Giltner defense. The ball shot up into the rafters of the gym and bounced off a light. Three lady Hornets tried to lift the ball as it came down and managed to, but the ball landed in their own zone and just out of the reach of Giltner senior Kelbie Lyon. Hampton continues its hot start to the season and is 4-0. Giltner falls to 3-1.
