Shirley Krabiel

Shirley Krabiel, 84, of Aurora, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014, at the Hamilton Manor.
 Funeral services were held Aug. 4 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Rev. Ron Harris officiated. Burial was in the Aurora Cemetery.  Visitation was on Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary.  Memorials may be made to the Aurora United Methodist Church.  Shirley Ann Krabiel, the daughter of Clifford and Iva (Stewart) Cramer, was born in Polk, on Dec. 22, 1929. She grew up in Polk and graduated from Polk High School.
 On Feb. 19, 1947, she was united in marriage to Ross Eldon Krabiel at Abilene, Kans.  They lived for a short time in Aurora before moving to his grandparent’s home north of Stockham. This is where they raised their family and farmed for 27 years. Shirley ran a beauty shop from their home and later had a shop in Aurora. In 1973, they built a new home in Aurora that they moved into upon retirement. They owned the Colonial Corner Assisted Living Home from 1993 to 2005. Ross passed away on April 19, 2012.
 Shirley was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church. Shirley was an avid bridge player. She assisted in bringing the “I Can Cope” cancer program to Aurora. She devoted her later years in life to spending time with her great-grandchildren.
 She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Janis Hanson; brother, Dennis Cramer and sister, Phyllis Munn.
Survivors include her two children, Sheryl Krabiel of Aurora and Monte (Lyn) Krabiel of Kearney; three grandchildren (Janis’ children), Alissa (Chris) Kidd of Hastings, Jenilee Van Wormer and friend Jim Mason of Aurora and John Hanson and friend Jennifer Oney of Colorado; six great-grandchildren; son-in-law, John Hanson; brother, Darryl Cramer of Arizona and brother-in-law, Doyle Munn of Palmer.
